Hi! I'm a beginner to Chinese in search of a tutor or two who can help me build up my skills from a starting point of nothing. My ultimate goal for the hopefully not-too-distant future is to be able to read literature and talk about it in Chinese. It's especially important to me to find a tutor who has experience teaching the SOUNDS of Chinese: how to arrange one's tongue and teeth and so on to produce the consonants and vowels accurately. I want to work hard on getting the sounds right, so I need someone very patient. (I had to select something under "Degree Required," but I don't actually care about degrees -- experience, especially teaching the sounds of Chinese, is much more important to me.) I'm interested in having 4-6 total hours of tuition per week (if you can't do that much, still feel free to contact me); I want to meet on weekdays in the morning or early afternoon (we can talk in more detail about times later), somewhere along the Wenhu Line (Brown Line). I would consider myself somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I want to focus on listening and speaking. However, I do have 3 books I'm going through and want to focus on those as well.

Hi, thanks for reading my ad. I've been in Taiwan now for >1 year, and it's been great, but I know it would be so much better if I could speak better Chinese. I know many Chinsese words, but now I need help with grammar, and, possibly writing characters (so it would be good to follow a curriculum). I'm a working professional, so I'm usally only available after 6:30pm on weekdays, but during the weekend I am free in the afternoon.

I am looking for a teacher for beginner (and then conversational) classes in Chinese. I wish to learn basics for shopping etc, with the long term goal of holding a full conversation in Chinese with Taiwanese people. I am willing to travel to Taichung for classes, but if it would take more than an hour, then that would be too far away! I would be interested in classes every day of the week, starting as soon as possible. The teacher would need to be good enough at English to understand any questions that I have.

I will be living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for the next year. I am going to be teaching English in multiple elementary schools during the day. I would like to take the time to improve my Mandarin while I am in Taiwan. I am currently at an intermediate level. I would like to be able to read a newspaper and understand the news on TV after this next year. I do not know my teaching schedule yet, but I think I will want to be tutored Chinese 6-8 hours a week.

I am teaching English for a year in Kaohsiung and want to improve my Mandarin skills tremendously while I am here. I will need a tutor in the evenings preferably 3 times a week for 2 hours at a time (that's a total of 6 hours). I want someone who is very serious about teaching Mandarin in both speaking and writing (simplified and traditional). I've studied Mandarin in the USA for three semesters and 1 semester abroad in Beijing. My friendships with my Taiwanese friends are unbalanced because they always have to speak English for me, or I just can't communicate with them at all. I'm tired of the miscommunication. I'm very good at phrases like "Wǒde zhōng wén bú hǎo" and "Wǒ bú dǒng". I've been living in Taiwan for almost six months now, so it's time I learned Chinese. I'm very good at learning languages and I'm eager to learn, so I'll be an excellent student. I have free time in the evenings after 7pm most days, or after 12pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Hello, I'm an American recently moved to Taichung and I'm looking to brush up on my Chinese. I've got a bit of a background, having studied in Beijing for a semester, with another semester back in the States, but I've gotten rusty since then and would like help reviewing and learning more. I would like help in all areas, learning Traditional characters, Zhuyin, practice speaking and listening, the whole thing. Hello, I work in TianMu near the intersection of 天母西路 and 天母北路. I would like to improve my Chinese language by meeting with a tutor at a restaurant or coffee shop or park (depending on the weather!) on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays on my lunch hour. 11:45am or 12pm, for one hour each day. Will pay 1000 NT per week. I studied Chinese at Shida for one year, but am rusty. To start I'd like to go over all my previous lessons in my textbooks to review and refresh. Hello, I'm an exchange student in Taipei. I am seeking a Chinese tutor for September to December, or one that will be available starting September. Seeking a cheap one, preferably, since this will be something in addition to number of classes I take at NTU. The degree is not limited to Bachelor's -- You can currently be studying at a university. Free-NT300 or less/hour preferred.
