I am looking for someone to teach me conversational / practical Mandarin.

My name is Kerri. I am from New York and have been in Taiwan for over two months now. I live in ShiDa and I am an English teacher in Sanchong. My Mandarin is about four words. This would be my first attempt to really try to learn Mandarin. I would like someone who can meet me at night after 7 weekdays or on the weekends.

I live in Jhubei, Hsinchu, and I am looking for someone who can teach me how to type in Chinese. I am fluent in English and Chinese, so if you want to trade English lessons for computer lessons, that's cool with me.

I've been in Taiwan for two years and haven't studied Chinese yet, but I listen and pay attention and have picked up a lot of useful phrases, but I think it's time to start taking it more seriously. I mostly want to practice speaking, but am open to writing/reading as well. I have a few books but could buy something else if the teacher suggests. Hello Potential Teacher, My beloved Chinese teacher is abandoning me to go explore the world so I need a new teacher. Two things I especially want to learn to be able to talk more about with fluency are art and things that have to do with teaching (my job), like being able to explain grammar concepts and other things in Chinese to students who are learning English. Also for classroom management and talking with the Chinese staff. I've come up with a lot of different methods for learning that work for me. I can explain the ways to you I learn best - listening, interactive, contextual, playful. I do want homework and I like to focus on listening and speaking first. Abstract concepts are harder for me to get a handle on. If you have an active imagination and are flexible that will be a benefit to both of us. I also need a teacher who can help keep me focused and crack the whip sometimes! I have a lot of materials I like to use: including the Far East Book (still on #1); the Practical Chinese blabla one; children's picture books with bopomofo; songs; and books written for Taiwanese kids learning Chinese. I also need to do some translation work for an art group I co-run (so a background in translation will help too), and I'm planning on taking an art course all in Chinese so I'll need help with that. I will record the classes on audio and take photos of the white board. After October 15th I'll have a better idea of my schedule, but generally I have morning available from 10 - 12. I would like to meet 3X/wk but I'll have to see about my finances. We should meet and talk in person and see if we're right for each other. I live not too far from the 101 building. We could actually have lessons at my apartment if it's convenient for you (and I would provide coffee or tea). I'm near Songren and Wuxing jie. Could you tell me something about yourself, your interests, your major? I would like someone open-minded, flexible and PATIENT who genuinely enjoys teaching. I also want someone who has a pretty good command of English and has familiarity with Western culture. I don't want: complicated ways of charging; anyone who wants to charge me an arm and a leg simply because they have an Masters degree but don't really have experience teaching; a response from anyone who doesn't bother to read what I wrote here. I've experienced all of the above several times. I'm a teacher, I like my job and take it seriously, I know what teaching is about and that there is always more to learn. Hello, I am Florian. I am a graduate institute student in NUTN (tainan) and I do need a tutor to teach me chinese. I studied at NCKU for a year and would like to continue but need a more flexible classtime. I have been studying Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (2nd edition) books. I almost finished book 3.
