I'm looking for a man to practice speaking Mandarin with. My wife has criticized me for speaking in a "womanly" way. Initially, I need to build my daily Chinese (going to the bank, post-office etc.) so I can be more effective at work. The focus will be on speaking and listening and practical vocabulary building. I have some material to work on but you will need to also find other things. I DO NOT WANT TO USE THE SHR-DA BOOK. I run an adult school and know a lot about teaching techniques. I can give some suggestions but you really need to be ready to teach in a NON-traditional way. To start with, I'd like to try once a week Wednesday noon for 2 hours - though I'm a little flexible on that. The classes would be at my school in Banqiao. Near the Jiancizui MRT. I would class my Chinese as Pre-Intermediate.

I moved to Taiwan 3 months ago and literally have not learnt any Chinese! I am working as an English teacher in a language school, and would like to learn at least some basic language, so I could communicate a little bit easier in everyday life. Ideally I would like to conduct lessons online via skype (I don't have my own transport so would rather not have to rely on public transport), and I would like a tutor to be open to a fairly relaxed schedule, as I work afternoons and evenings, so would rather book a few lessons at a time, than commit solidly to a set time every single week.
