Qualifications
Education: A masters in education or a related field is preferred. This can be replaced with a bachelors and 3+ years of previous experience in a teaching capacity or related field experience.
Experience: 3+ years of teaching experience or related field experience

Key Responsibilities
• Language Instruction: plan, prepare, and deliver EAL lessons that meet students' individual language needs (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
• Curriculum Adaptation: modify and differentiate curriculum content to support English language learners (ELL) at various levels of proficiency.
• Lesson Planning: design lessons using appropriate resources, incorporating language learning objectives aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
• Assessment: assess students' English proficiency levels (both formative and summative assessments) and monitor their progress over time.
• Group and One-on-One Support: provide individual or small group instruction in targeted areas of language acquisition (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, etc.).
• Collaboration with Teachers: work closely with classroom teachers to plan and implement strategies that support EAL students within mainstream classes.
• Co-teaching: co-plan and co-teach lessons in mainstream classrooms to provide additional language support.
• Professional Development: provide training and workshops for teachers on strategies for supporting EAL students in the mainstream classroom.
• Language Development Plans: develop and maintain individualized learning plans (ILPs) for EAL students, setting clear goals and tracking progress.
• Language Assessments: conduct diagnostic language assessments to determine entry-level proficiency and ongoing needs.
• Academic Support: provide academic support in specific content areas to help EAL students meet grade-level expectations.
• Homework Assistance: help students with language-based homework tasks, supporting their understanding of the material in English.
• Record Keeping: maintain accurate records of student progress, including reports and evaluations.
• Report Writing: write regular progress reports and contribute to parent-teacher conferences.
• Parent Communication: regularly communicate with parents to discuss their child's progress and ways to support language learning at home, responding to parent emails within 48 hours
• Data Analysis: analyze data from WIDA, MAP and other school assessments and student work to inform instruction and curriculum adjustments.
• Cultural Adaptation: help students adapt to the school culture and understand the cultural nuances of learning in English.
• Social and Emotional Support: provide guidance and support for students adjusting to a new language environment, addressing language anxiety, and helping build confidence.
• Resource Creation: develop EAL teaching materials, including worksheets, activities, and online resources tailored to different proficiency levels.
• Technology Integration: use educational technology tools and software to enhance EAL teaching and learning (e.g., language learning apps, online quizzes, etc.).
• School Initiatives: participate in and contribute to broader school initiatives, such as language policy development, diversity, equity, and inclusion projects.
• Extra-Curricular Activities: organize or assist with extracurricular programs aimed at helping EAL students improve their English outside the classroom.
• Classroom Management: handling off-task behavior and misbehavior respectfully and helping students to get back on track, repair damage caused, and develop self-discipline to prevent similar problems in the future
• Student Centered Instruction: using inquiry- and/or project-based learning strategies to make connections to prior knowledge, real-life experiences, Taiwan, and/or other curricular area
• School Involvement: attending and/or helping to plan/execute school and community events/tasks, including but not limited to, WASC Action Groups, community gatherings, and after-hours activities and competitions
• Child Safety: ensuring that all child protection and safeguarding expectations are met
• Emergencies: completing his/her role in emergency evacuations and other site safety needs
• Student Supervision: supporting and supervising school activities to ensure the safety of all students
