Hey! My name's Eric Yang and I grew up in the US. My parents are from Taiwan and I'm coming to Taipei for the first time this fall. Pretty excited to finally visit the Motherland for the first time... :)
A large part of this trip is for me to reconnect with my ancestry and become fluent in Mandarin. I can speak the language at a fairly beginner conversational level, but I'd like to learn how to speak, read, and write a lot more fluently. I'm also interested in learning about the meaning of each character, stroke, and calligraphy so if you're knowledgeable about that, that's a plus :)
Not sure how long I will be in Taiwan for. I started a technology nonprofit in the US and am considering applying for an Entrepreneur Visa if I decide to stay longer than 3 months. I'll be working during my stay in Taipei, but I'll have time for classes about once a week!
