We are both full-time teachers and love our profession, but have decided that we need a change of scenery as teaching conditions in South Africa are not what they used to be. b. The salaries we are paid are very poor and we cannot see our way to be able to retire on the pensions we will get one day if we had to stay in teaching here. As it is, we both give extra lessons in the afternoons to be able to make ends meet. c. We were recently married and are starting a new life together. Both of our children are out of home now and we would love to start a new adventure together. The idea of working in a new country is extremely appealing. Mike has traveled and worked overseas quite a bit and knows that it is a fabulous way to broaden one's experience and richness of life. We know what we want and that's NOT just to go for a quick trip overseas to leave again at the drop of a hat. We are in this for the long run and plan to teach overseas until retirement (10 to 15 years time).
