My name is Nancy Kung. I am a fully qualified Chinese and ESL teacher. I got my teaching degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. I lived in Australia for 20 years, teaching Chinese and English as an extra language for 15 years in schools. I also hold a TESOL qualification. I completed my master's degree in Business administration at the State University of New York and worked in the USA for a year. My parents are Mainland Chinese and I also travelled around China for work. Therefore, I can speak Mandarin without any accents and teach simplified and traditional Chinese characters. Especially I can explain how the characters were evolved over the centuries by drawing, which my students loved the most.

As Australia is a multicultural society, I had students from all over the world. This gave me a better understanding of what students struggle with when it comes to pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure. A lot of issues they had when they learn Chinese all come from mother tongue interference. I can teach you how to use your mouth, tongue, throat, and teeth so you sound more like a native. I can also help you avoid common grammar and sentence-structure mistakes.

My emphasis is on communication purposes. I follow the principle of KISS, and keep my teaching simple but useful. I will use props, games, role play, and videos to make the lesson engaging. I also prepared students for HSK grades every year so they were encouraged by their progress.
