“An exciting opportunity to teach in and among the central mountain range of Taiwan.”

United Kingdom Intensive Day-School [UKids] requires one native-speaking English Language teacher.

The school is a family-run (English/Taiwanese couple) business based in Puli Town (Pop. 40,000), Central Taiwan. Puli is a quiet, relaxed, countryside-town surrounded by the central mountain range of Taiwan. The job will allow people plenty of time for exploration of the nearby mountains, villages, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Taichung (Pop. 2,000,000) is only 45 minutes away by bus.

The school was started in 2006, with one teacher. During the last 6 years we have hired another teacher as demand has increased (previous teachers may be contacted in reference to our credibility). We have approximately 150-200 students who attend classes twice a week. Classes are taught 100% by the native-speakers. Students are aged 7-14 with a maximum class-size of 16 children. We have designed our own syllabus and have achieved great success and an excellent reputation in the area.

This is both a challenging and extremely rewarding job. The post will have between 20 and 24 contact-hours per week. Residential visa (ARC) and work permit will be provided. The job has a highly competitive wage (600-700NT$/contact-hour depending on experience) which enables people to easily save money. Classes are in the afternoon and evening, finishing at 8:30. The school is only open Monday-Friday. The classes are planned and taught solely by the foreign teacher with a Taiwanese assistant in class to mark homework and aid in any translation necessary. Classes are 2 hours with a 10-15 minute break.

Applicants will need a university degree, a professional attitude, and to be out-going, open minded and flexible. Teachers must be good with children and also be able to sign a one-year contract. On-the-job training will be given by highly experienced staff.
