I am a MA graduate from the NTU Department of Chinese Literature, specializing in Ancient Chinese Philosophy. I've had at least one year's experience tutoring Chinese.
Lessons for beginners would focus on listening and speaking. They will be tailored to help you converse confidently in Chinese in your everyday life. Reading and writing skills would be systematically built upon your ability to listen and speak.
Having been trained in Chinese etymology and graphology, I can teach many Chinese Characters pictorially with an interesting storyline to help you remember.
I am also equipped with the linguistic tools to help correct your pronounciation and avoid misunderstandings. I can even help aspiring students to speak like a native, as much as possible.
Pinyin, a romanized form of phonetic notation, rather than the locally prevalent Zhuyin would be used to help beginners get started quickly.
Reading and writing can be tailored to serve your personal needs. Students interested in learning more about Chinese Philosophy and Traditional Chinese Culture are also welcome.
I speak fluent English. So, communication with English-speaking students would not be a problem.
