My name is Dustin Staats. I have worked in the field of education for over 7 years. I have taught in Taiwan, Korea, mainland China, and the United States. I have a masters degree focused in International Education, a bachelors degree in English with a minor in Education, and a TESOL certification.
I am currently designing a course for the IELTS speaking portion of the test. I am looking for 2 or 3 students who are looking to improve their speaking score on the IELTS test. The course curriculum is fully developed but I am looking to collect data on how successful it can be for students. Therefore, I cannot guarantee an improved score, but I can promise your natural speaking ability will increase which should lead to a higher score.
The course is designed to give students a fresh critical approach to the test. A lot of students memorize responses,. Though, this is important and helps with your English ability it can sometimes lead to lower speaking test scores on the IELTS exam. The course is designed to help students learn techniques that will help them sound more natural.
If you are interested in taking this course, and helping to improve the curriculum you are required to meet with me, or 1 other teacher twice a week for about an hour. Each class will be an hour, but there will be 10-15 minutes after the class where I will ask for your feedback or collect data. The course will be 20 classes long (or 10 weeks). If you cannot complete the whole course, and are still interested please email me.
Each class will only cost $500 NTD since it will be used for research purposes and to collect data. The quality of the classes will be high and there is also an expectation from the student to take control of their learning.
