Shane English School Taiwan is currently hiring English teachers to work at our branches in Hsinchu and Yunlin (with further positions due to open in Taichung and Taipei). Shane is one of Taiwan’s leading British language schools and offers new and experienced teachers the opportunity to work in a well-structured organisation that fosters the development of teachers. New teachers will join our training week which covers everything from motivating and managing students to creating fun and engaging classes for a range of different ages, and also enjoy the ongoing support of a driven Head Office team.

At Shane you’ll teach our specialised curriculum that is clearly laid out lesson by lesson throughout the semester, and comes complete with all the necessary course guides, materials and resources needed to teach each class. Our curriculum is focused on naturally spoken English with minimal written work to allow for more peer to peer speaking opportunities through class discussions, group work and games. Teachers are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the start of their first class of the day but are not required to maintain office hours and have a minimal amount of grading (mostly done by the TA). Shane teachers enjoy a healthy work/life balance, with the remaining time free to enjoy life in sunny Taiwan.

Salary and benefits include:

(1) NT$600-700 per hour.
(2) Guaranteed 20 teaching hours per week.
(3) Monday to Friday schedule.
(4) Possible salary raise of NT$10-20 per hour every six months.
(5) NT$15,000-40,000 contract completion bonus.
(6) Professional development opportunities and academic support form a dedicated and experienced Head Office team.
(7) ARC, Work Permit, and Health Insurance provided by the school.
(8) Assistance in finding an apartment for teachers who are relocating

Requirements to work at Shane:
(1) You must be a native English speaker.
(2) You must have a full university degree or an associate’s degree combined with a 120-hour TEFL certificate.
(3) You must have a TEFL/teaching certificate or at least be willing to become TEFL certified.
(4) You must be comfortable teaching young learners aged 3-18.
(5) You must be willing to commit to a 12-month contract.
