Unique Full-Time Homeroom Teaching Position at scenic and historic Tamkang Private Junior/Senior High in Tamsui (淡江高級中學)

Looking for a fulfilling, full-time teaching position? Join our team of Native-English-Speaking Teachers as a homeroom teacher for a junior or senior high bilingual class! Our teachers work closely with our Taiwanese co-homeroom-teachers, native-English-speaking managers, and the rest of our dynamic local and foreign staff to provide both basic ESL education and more advanced bilingual education to our local area students. Job Description:
Employment period: August 2020 through end of June 2021, with possible renewal based on job performance
Working Hours: 9AM to 5 PM, Mon-Fri, 8AM to 4:05PM Wed, approximately 16 teaching hours per week
Class Subjects: 7th to 12th grade Listening and Speaking, Grammar, Writing, Literature, Conversation, Cultural Studies, Performing Arts, and Drama (courses vary by schedule)
Salary: starting at 68,000 NTD per month, with annual increase if contract is renewed
All official leave paid at base salary for winter and summer vacations if remaining on contract
Optional summer and winter classes

1.Teacher responsibilities:
-Create positive learning environments
-Generate supplemental resources, activities, and assessments to expand on provided teaching materials for engaging, effective lessons
-Create and mark major exams three times per semester
-Grade homework and quiz papers, maintain records of student performance
-Collaborate with other foreign teachers to refine teaching resources and methods and to develop interdisciplinary projects
-Coach and adjudicate students in English competitions

2. Homeroom Responsibilities:
-Converse with students during break times to encourage a bilingual environment
-Respond to English journals twice a month, have lunch with class one or more times a week
-Build strong mentorship connections with homeroom students as they learn and grow
-Participate in class-related events and activities (holiday celebrations, sports day, etc.)

3. Prerequisites:
-MOE-recognized, government-issued full teaching license or substitute teacher's license
-Passport from MOE-approved native-English-speaking country
-Certified clean criminal record/ background check
-Bachelor’s Degree (or higher)

Our teachers:
-Delve into thought provoking literature, bolster confidence and creativity through performing arts, encourage empathy and inclusion in cultural studies, develop critical thinking and organization of ideas in writing, and help students with basic language skills throughout all of our bilingual and general courses.
-Develop interesting, interdisciplinary learning projects for their students, such as: YouTube videos to change the world, talk show performances, writing and illustrating short stories on topics of cultural diversity and inclusion, and grant proposals to solve real-world issues inspired by I Am Malala
-Enjoy the beauty of Tamsui - it’s a nice place to run, bike, hike, go to the beach, watch sunsets on the river, watch ocean waves come to shore, and to live!
