(NPUE)
is
located
in
Pingtung,
the
county
seat
of
the
southernmost
of
Taiwan's
19
counties.
With
a
population

900,
000,
Pingtung

Pingtung

is
one
of
Taiwan's
major
zones
of
agricultural

rice

Pingtung

The
history
of
National
Pingtung
University
of
Education
extends
back
to
the
Japanese
colonial
period,
when
it
was
initiated
as
a
facility
to
provide
rudimentary
teacher
training.
After
Taiwan's
restoration
to
the
Republic
of
China
in
1945,
NPUE
continued
to
function
as
a
training
facility
and
it
was
later
promoted
from
a
5-year
junior
college
to
a
4-year
provisional
teachers
college.
In
1991,
the
college
came
under
the
jurisdiction
of
the
national
government,
and
its
name
was
changed
to
reflect
the
new
status
within
the
constellation
of
normal
colleges
and
universities
in
Taiwan.
For
yielding
students
to
have
a
diverse
vision,
and
also
for
cultivating
more
outstanding
students
on
each
field,
on
August
1st,
2005,
the
school
was
changed
its
name
again
as
National
Pingtung
University
of
Education.
National
Pingtung
University
of
Education
is
one
of
a
group
of
12
teachers’
universities
in
Taiwan.
With
a
student
population
of
about
3000
and
a
very
low
student-teacher
ratio,
NPUE
maintains
the
intimate
feeling
of
a
small
community.
The
area
of
NPUE,
a
total
of
62
acres,
is
divided
into
2
campuses.
The
west
campus
is
the
site
of
the
university's
science

University
(NTCU)

University

was
founded
on
October
27,
1947.
The
campus
was
originally
located
at
the
foot
of
Mt.
Hua
Kang
in
Hualien
city,
and
was
moved
to
its
present
site
in
north
Hualien
in
1960
after
suffering
typhoon
damage.
In
July
1964,
the
college
was
reformed
as
a
five-year
vocational
college
for

elementary
school
teachers.

July

1987,
the

Ministry

Life
There
are
a
track
and
field
stadium,
a
baseball
field,
tennis
courts,
a
swimming
pool,
a
gym,
and
a
library
for
students
to
exercise,
play
sports,
study
and
do
research
on
the
campus.
Students
are
encouraged
to
set
up
school
clubs
to
sharpen
ability
of
independent
thinking,
being
a
leader,

working
with
others.
