Course: MY SCHOOL offers both personal and group classes: Group classes provide a lively, interactive atmosphere where a broad range of classroom activities give students many opportunities to practice the language together. Personal classes provide a highly-intensive, personalized form of instruction which enables students to progress at a pace most suited to his or her needs and abilities. Material: MY SCHOOL teachers use a combination of Pinyin, (the standard Romanization system used in Mainland China) and the National Phonetic System of Taiwan (BPMF). Characters are also taught to intermediate and advance level students who wish to learn the writing system. Teaching Method: Our teachers use a combination of personal interaction focusing on speech, white board work and computer based learning. New words and phrases are typed on the computer (in Pinyin and Characters) and given to the students as a print out at the end of the class, therefore enabling the student to learn a greater range of material at home. GREAT NEWS--Government has granted PIONEER LANGUAGE CENTER the RIGHT to accept foreign students' applications for NEW visa & Extension(Study Chinese purpose). @@@Our Address: 6F No. 200, He-Ping East Rd. Sec. 1, Taipei;Tel:(02) 2363-3535/Fax:2363 3537, pioneer.lang@gmail.com , http://www.chinese.org.tw/ In accordance with the Government Regulations, a full-time student has to study 15 hours/week, and is NOT allowed to work. Applicants from abroad must pay a full tuition for reserving his 180 hrs group classes before Pioneer Center issuing the admission letter for application of 3 months extendable visitor visa for studying Chinese in Taiwan. Pioneer Language Institute was established in Sept. 1987 and received full accreditation in May 1989. Pioneer uses modern techniques to effectively teach all levels of Mandarin conversation and written Chinese to non-native speakers. Faculty: Pioneer has a large staff of experienced instructors who have completed intensive training programs by Mandarin Centers of local universities. Small group classes also can be arranged for field classes too. For group classes, each term lasts two months or more.Group Class is taught 2 or 3 hours a day, five days a week. Each class session consists of 2/3 50-minute periods of instruction and a 10-minute break. The class periods are as follows : 8:20-10:00 AM (without break);10:10-12:00 Noon;9:10-12:00;12:10-2:00pm ;1:10-4:00PM ;5:10-7:00PM ; 7:10-9:00PM; 3:10-5:00 PM; 6:40-9:30 PM 7:40-9:30 PM;8:10-10:00PM . An hour contains 50 minutes classroom instruction. e.g. the 10-12 noon class starts at 10:10am and there is a 10 minutes break between 11:00 -11:10am. Our English Language Programs--The Center also has English classes for Chinese students on a small group basis. One-on-one adult English classes in school or in student office/house can be arranged. No classes are held on National Holidays; no tuition payment is required for those holidays.

Photo ◆Who can apply? Those who are interested in learning Chinese are welcome to apply for Chinese classes held by the CSL Division, Language Center, NCYU. The CSL Division provides marvelous classes that fit the needs of different students: *Full-time students: Those who need a letter of admission from the CSL Division for visa application need to be full-time. Students taking a course load of 12 hours per week are considered full-time. (Please note that effective from September 2008 the course load for a full-time student is 15 hours per week.) The CSL Division will issue a letter of admission to those who intend to study Chinese full time for visa application and visa extension. * Part-time students: Part-time students take classes six hours a week. The 6-hour class is the core Chinese language class. The CSL Division does not issue a letter of admission to part-time students and they need to take care of visa-related issues by themselves. Part-time students can elect courses from culture courses and pay only for the course elected. ◆Materials required for application: * Application form: Please download an application form from the homepage, fill it in and email or fax the filled application form to the CSL Division. * Certificate of Health Examination: Please turn in a certificate of health examination conducted within six months before the application date. The health examination needs to include an HIV test. Continuing students are exempted. * Proof of financial situation: Please turn in a proof of savings of at least 2500 USD (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country). Continuing students are exempted. * Photocopy of your passport (and/or your ARC): If you are not in Taiwan, please turn in a photocopy of your passport. If you are already in Taiwan and have an ARC, please turn in a photocopy of your ARC. * Two passport-size photos. ◆A photocopy of the diploma or the highest degree you received.
